BSc (Hons) Psychology, D.M.H. D.Hyp

As the founder of Lumiere Hypnotherapy, my aim is to provide a professional confidential service that allows individuals to feel safe, secure and confident they are receiving the best support for their needs.

Having first studied psychology 20 years ago I had a successful career in human resources and consultancy. I continued to be involved in learning self-improvement techniques that could help people overcome mental and emotional challenges, including the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).

Subsequently qualified as a clinical hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner, and have been helping people break through their subconscious blocks since.

For me, being a clinical hypnotherapist is about enabling others to release their subconscious blocks and live the life they truly desire.

I am fully committed to my continuing professional development to bring you the latest in therapeutic approaches.

What is a Clinical Hypnotherapist?

A clinical hypnotherapist is not the same as a hypnotist you may have seen on the television or at a stage show. A clinical hypnotherapist is trained to guide clients into a hypnotic trance and apply therapeutic techniques to help them address their particular issues.

There are a variety of hypnotherapy techniques and not all hypnotherapists are trained in all approaches. Your hypnotherapist will explain to you their approach when you have an initial consultation with them.

My approach is to use a combination of techniques depending on the client-specific needs. This can include hypnoanalysis, cognitive hypnotherapy, Ericksonian hypnotherapy, suggestions therapy and NLP techniques. I also use the Simpson Protocol, a form of deep-state hypnosis that gets powerful results in all areas and is an approach that does not require the client to discuss their issue in any detail. This is particularly useful for those that have experienced trauma.

Hypnoanalysis - looks to identify and resolve the root cause of a particular problem. This is appropriate for those issues such as addictive behaviours and emotionally based issues.

Cognitive hypnotherapy - an approach tailored to the client's personal goals, values and needs, it focussed on helping the subconscious mind align with the conscious decisions and desires of the client.

Ericksonian hypnotherapy - considered one of the most influential of hypnotherapy techniques, Milton Erickson's style of indirect suggestion is an approach most hypnotherapists will utilise. This approach is useful for working with children due to its use of storytelling.

Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) - while this is not a type of hypnotherapy it is a highly influential and empowering approach, enabling clients to take control of the conscious messages they tell themselves and how to reframe thoughts for positive outcomes. This can be particularly useful for breaking through limiting beliefs and also with phobias.
